How do you navigate the different types of yoga?
To better understand the so-called “traditional” types of yoga, here is a quick overview of the different types of yoga I propose:
1 – VINYASA YOGA: THE DANCING
What is it? This form of yoga is based on a series of choreographies and stable postures creating a flow. Breathing and movement are at the heart of this discipline. Ideal for anxious people.
Its benefits? You will discover an unparalleled synergy between breathing and strength training and you improve your balance and flexibility.
2 – POWER YOGA: THE MODERN
What is it? Here, we put everything on the body. Meditation is significantly relayed in the background in favor of muscle building. Breathing occupies here also an important importance in the almost gymnastic movements.
Its benefits? This form of yoga offers unprecedented active relaxation and muscle building.
3 – RESTORATIVE YOGA: RELAXATION OF BODY AND MIND
What is it? Restorative Yoga is a meditation that is incorporated into a physical relaxation that creates a deep relaxation of the body. This physical relaxation is achieved through the use of supports such as bolsters, blankets, bricks, straps, chairs… this in order to allow certain joints of the body to be bent slightly and thus to eliminate any muscle tension. Ideal for combating stress.
Its benefits? Allows the nervous system to calm down instantly by feeling supported. Letting go is then possible for an assured regenerating effect.
4 – YOGA NIDRA: THE INTERIORIZED
What is it? Yoga Nidra is a kind of lucid sleep. It involves breathing and visualization exercises throughout a guided meditation. The mind is immersed in a kind of half-sleep and our body is totally under the influence of the mind.
Its benefits? You access a state of deep relaxation. Improves sleep through conscious communication with the unconscious.
